Sierra Leone EOC Laboratory Director Visits China-Sierra Leone Friendship Biosafety Laboratory

On July 8, 2026, Doris Harding, Head of Laboratory Management at Sierra Leone’s National Public Health Emergency Operations Center (EOC), visited the China-Sierra Leone Friendship Biosafety Laboratory. She reviewed progress on the Phase IV Technical Assistance Project, listened to work reports, and inspected laboratory operations.

Wang Yanhai and Wei Hejiang of the Chinese expert team, together with local staff, showed Harding around the facility and detailed advances in equipment maintenance, testing capacity building, and local staff training. Zang Chunpeng presented a comprehensive report on project implementation, covering quality management system optimization, surveillance support for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, and joint China-Sierra Leone research outcomes.

Harding commended the Chinese team’s contributions, noting that the laboratory plays a vital role in Sierra Leone’s public health emergency response and capacity building. She thanked the experts for their long-term dedication and looked forward to deepening technical cooperation to enhance the country’s infectious disease detection and early warning capabilities.
