China CDC Expert Departs for DRC to Support Ebola Response

In the early hours of July 3, 2026, under arrangements by the National Health Commission, Researcher Su Qiudong of the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), departed from Beijing Capital International Airport for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to support Ebola prevention and control as a member of China's second medical expert team for Ebola response. The team will continue the work of the first expert team, working alongside the Chinese medical team in the DRC to strengthen risk trend assessment, exchange disease prevention and control experience with relevant disease control institutions, promote cooperation, establish regular liaison mechanisms with international organizations, participate in international anti-epidemic efforts, and support local capacity building for Ebola prevention and control.

Zhou Yuhui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, went to the airport to see off the expert, along with responsible officials from the Office of General Administration, the Public Health Emergency Center (PHEC), and the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention.
