Communicable Diseases Agency Singapore Delegation Holds Talks with China CDC’s CFETP on FETP Collaboration
On the afternoon of July 22, 2025, a delegation led by Professor Vernon LEE Jian Ming, Chief Executive Officer of the Communicable Diseases Agency Singapore , visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) to hold discussions on collaboration under the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).
Wang Xiaoqi, Director of the Office of International Cooperation of China CDC, introduced the participants. Ma Huilai, Director of the Office of Epidemiology of China CDC and Director of CFETP; Zhang Lijie, Deputy Director of the Office of Epidemiology of China CDC and Deputy Director of CFETP; and Pei Yingxin, Deputy Director of CFETP, briefed the delegation on the development of CFETP, the establishment of its three-tier training network, and training models with distinct Chinese characteristics. They also highlighted CFETP’s key role in responding to major public health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic. The Singaporean side provided a detailed overview of its own FETP, including the structure of its three-tier training system, curriculum design, and suggestions for future bilateral collaboration. Both sides then held in-depth, candid, and constructive discussions on potential areas of cooperation, including joint FETP training initiatives, personnel exchanges, and the sharing of training resources.
This meeting deepened mutual understanding in the field of field epidemiology capacity building and laid a solid foundation for establishing a closer and more pragmatic partnership.
