To actively promote cooperation on schistosomiasis elimination in the Lancang-Mekong region, enhance surveillance and diagnostic capabilities for schistosomiasis in the region, and strengthen the capacity of Chinese experts to participate in global public health governance, the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases (Chinese Center for Tropical Diseases Research) at Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), organized the 2025 International Training Course on Diagnosis and Surveillance Techniques of Schistosomiasis from July 10 to 16 in Shanghai and Chizhou, Anhui Province. Approximately 30 participants from Laos, Cambodia, and key schistosomiasis-endemic provinces in China attended the training. Experts from China CDC, Anhui Provincial CDC, Jiangsu Institute of Parasitic Diseases, as well as specialists from Laos and Cambodia, were invited to deliver lectures.

The training course adopted a three-pronged approach combining theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, and field investigation, providing participants from China, Laos, and Cambodia with a comprehensive and in-depth practical learning experience. Through this program, trainees not only acquired the latest techniques in schistosomiasis surveillance and diagnostics, but also gained a deeper understanding of the current status of schistosomiasis control in the Lancang-Mekong region. The training fully demonstrated and promoted advanced experience and technical capacity of China in schistosomiasis control, also serving as an effective platform for international cooperation and communication. It laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in the field of public health.
