The national training course on epidemiological investigation of food safety incidents for CDC institutions was held in Nyingchi, Tibet, from 27 to 31 October 2025. The course was hosted by the Public Health Emergency Center of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and aimed to strengthen the capacity of the national CDC system in the investigation and response to food safety incidents. Forty key staff in charge of epidemiological investigation of food safety incidents from provincial CDCs across the country took part in the training. In addition, forty members of public health emergency teams from CDC institutions in the Tibet Autonomous Region, including national level institutions, seven prefectures and seven counties of Nyingchi, joined the course, bringing the total number of participants to eighty.

The training used a combination of theoretical instruction, case sharing, thematic presentations and focused discussions. It covered interpretation of current laws and regulations, field epidemiological investigation techniques and practical approaches to investigation and response. Participants worked through the responsibilities of CDC institutions under the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Response to Public Health Emergencies, as well as standard procedures and key techniques for epidemiological investigation of food safety incidents. Trainers also explained investigation and response practices and recent research progress related to common foodborne intestinal infectious diseases, mushroom poisoning and botulism. Sharing of real world experience from daily work helped promote exchange and cooperation among CDC institutions from different regions. The training was closely aligned with operational needs and strongly practical. It helped improve the professional competence and hands on skills of CDC staff in the epidemiological investigation of food safety incidents and supported more effective work in this area in the future.
