China CDC Delegation Attends the 2nd International Infectious Disease Forum in Russia

From December 10 to 13, 2023, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation held the 2nd International Infectious Disease Forum at the Congress Center of the First Moscow State Medical University I.M. Sechenov.
 
Li Jian, a professor from National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention, China CDC, was invited to participate in a dedicated session on eliminating viral hepatitis at this forum via online connection. He delivered an academic report named Viral Hepatitis Elimination in China: Progress and Perspective. Prof. Li Jian provided a brief overview of China's chronic viral hepatitis infections in China, highlighting positive progress in elimination efforts across policy guarantee, immunization programs, diagnosis and treatment strategies, drug accessibility and affordability, information system development, and pilot project etc. He also discussed future action plans. During the discussion, Prof. Li Jian engaged with experts from Russia, Egypt, Pakistan, and international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), exploring challenges and prospects for eliminating viral hepatitis. 
 
During this forum, China CDC expert shared the “Chinese experience” in eliminating viral hepatitis globally. Concurrently, they acquired insights into the latestrequirements of the WHO's goal to eliminate viral hepatitis and the progress of other countries' endeavors. This academic exchange played a facilitating role in advancing China's continuous efforts to eliminate the public health impact of viral hepatitis.
