Project on improving public health capacity of Sierra Leone: impact & results

 

The project on improving public health capacity of Sierra Leone has cultivated professionals qualified to work in P3 laboratories, and facilitated better laboratory operation and continuous effects. It marked a positive beginning for the China-UK assistance to Sierra Leone, and achieved mutual benefit and win-win outcomes among the three parties.

 

 

Financial support from the UK is the driving force behind the success of the project.

 

Extensive involvement of the UK in exchange and cooperation activities such as laboratory capacity building, as well as sharing of international project management experience has promoted the development of the project.

 

The laboratory-based capability training provided by the Chinese side is crucial to the project's success. On this basis, both China and the UK have achieved the co-construction and sharing of laboratory capability, reciprocal exchange of achievements and experiences, and improved utilization of resources for both parties.

 

The existing global health network of the UK supports the establishment of technical communication mechanisms among the China CDC and the Sierra Leone's Ministry of Health and Sanitation, the UK, the US, and other major international partners.

 

Sierra Leone's positive attitude towards engaging in public health cooperation with China and the UK is a key factor to the success of the project.
