China CDC delegation visits WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence
On Nov 7, Shen Hongbing, Director-General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), led a team of experts to visit the World Health Organization's (WHO) Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, Germany.
During the visit, Shen held discussions with Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, WHO assistant Director-General and head of the WHO hub. He also attended a joint meeting on the partnership between the China CDC and the WHO hub featuring flagship project introduction.
Dr. Chikwe warmly welcomed the delegation from the China CDC on behalf of the WHO hub, and said that he believes this activity would further promote communication and cooperation and lay a sound foundation for advancing global health strategies together.
Shen stated that as a member state and one of the founding member states of the WHO, China has always supported the leadership role played by the organization in global health governance and has always been willing to contribute wisdom.
At the joint meeting of the partners, experts from the German Federal Ministry of Health and the Robert Koch Institute shared their progress in communication and collaboration with the WHO hub.
All parties involved expressed their willingness to promote trilateral cooperation among China, Germany and the WHO Hub to build a bilateral and multilateral strategic partnership.
