China CDC director meets Myanmar delegation

On Oct 24, Shen Hongbing, DirectorGeneral of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), met with a visiting delegation from Myanmar led by H. E. Prof. Aye Tun, the country's deputy minister of health.
 
Shen extended a warm welcome to the eight distinguished guests and pointed out that the China CDC and Myanmar's health institutions have carried out fruitful exchanges in infectious disease prevention and control, public health emergencies, and workforce development. 
 
The China CDC is willing to share its experience and provide technical support for the institutional development, operation and management of the Myanmar National Center for Disease Control (Myanmar CDC), he added. 
 
He expressed his hope that China and Myanmar will deepen cooperation in malaria prevention and control and continue collaborating on the development of Myanmar CDC, as well as in HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention and control.
 
Aye Tun thanked Shen for the thoughtful reception from the China CDC and congratulated China on its remarkable achievements in malaria elimination. He expressed Myanmar's willingness to strengthen cooperation with China in the field of malaria prevention and control, and to gradually explore new areas of cooperation in other key infectious diseases such as dengue fever. 
He also suggested exchanging experts, regularly conducting technical exchanges, and enhancing human resource training between the two countries.
 
During the meeting, the delegation held in-depth discussions with experts from the China CDC in different professional areas. 
 
After the meeting, the guests visited the Public Health Emergency Center of the China CDC, the WHO Collaborating Centre for Vector Surveillance and Management, and the National AIDS Reference Laboratory of the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention of the China CDC.
