China CDC works to improve tuberculosis healthcare

From April 18 to 20, a three-day launch meeting for a public welfare project to help improve healthcare services for tuberculosis patients was held in Changsha, Hunan province, sponsored by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CCDC).

 

At the opening ceremony, Liu Jianjun, deputy director of the CCDC, put forward three requirements for the project based on the current situation.

 

The first is to attach great importance, formulating plans and detailed rules and carrying out work in a high-quality manner according to local conditions.

 

The second is to strengthen the three-tier health monitoring mechanism, coordinating national, provincial and county-level units to work together to achieve goals.

 

The third is to strengthen publicity of the project, creating a strong atmosphere in communities, raising public awareness and ensuring their satisfaction and support for tuberculosis prevention and control work.

 

At the meeting, experts from the working group explained in detail the implementation plan with corresponding work requirements, and shared their project management experience. Participants then gave suggestions after a full discussion. 

 

Zhao Yanlin, director of the Center for Tuberculosis Prevention and Control of the CCDC, presided over the meeting. Attendees included Sun Xinhua, chairman of the Chinese Foundation for Prevention of STD and AIDS, and He Xiao, head of the Hunan Institute for Tuberculosis Control.
