China CDC holds technical exchange workshop on AIDS prevention and control

A Virtual Workshop on Technical Exchange of South-South Cooperation on AIDS Prevention and Control was organized by the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention of the China CDC from Sept 28 to 29.
 
The workshop gathered more than 100 professionals and staff members from AIDS prevention and control institutions of China, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Zambia and Africa CDC.
 
Han Mengjie, director of the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention of the China CDC, introduced China experiences on taking comprehensive measures to sustain ARV treatment and promote AIDS response activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Zhou Kai, acting country director of the UNAIDS China Office, said that the new global AIDS strategy determined by the UN last year has set higher prevention and control goals, requiring more effective measures and intensified cooperation. This workshop provide an important experience sharing platform for China and African countries.
 
The event focused on HIV testing intervention and laboratory technology. The Chinese representatives introduced the latest practice and study such as the online HIV VCT model, pre-exposureprophylaxis (PrEP), civil society organization participation, combining of traditional and molecular epidemiology methods on precise intervention, as well as vaccine research.
 
Representatives of the Africa CDC introduced the AIDS response program of Africa CDC, and the Ugandan representative shared his country's good practice on optimizing case finding and referral.
