Wearing masks is an effective way to block the transmission of COVID-19.

Wear a mask when you are:

In crowded indoor places such as shopping malls, supermarkets, cinemas, assembly rooms, airports, docks and hotel public areas;

Taking an elevator, or travelling by plane, train, ship, coach, subway, bus or any other public transportation;

In crowded outdoor places such as open-air plazas, theaters and parks;

In hospital for medical treatment or caregiving, receiving a temperature check, a health code check, travel information registration and other health checks;

Having symptoms such as nasopharyngeal discomfort, coughing, sneezing and fever; or

In a restaurant or a canteen, but not having food.

Tips for wearing masks

It's recommended to choose disposable medical masks, surgical masks and masks with higher-grade protective effect.

1.Wear the mask correctly and make sure it covers your mouth, nose and chin.

2.The mask should be replaced immediately if it is dirty, deformed, damaged or smelly. Each mask can be worn for no more than eight hours altogether. It's not recommended to reuse the masks that have been worn on trans-regional public transport or in hospital settings.

3.Masks that need to be reused should be hung in a clean, dry and ventilated place when not in use.

4.If you experience discomfort such as shortness of breath when wearing a mask, go to an open and ventilated place and remove the mask immediately.

5.When going out, take spare masks and store them in their original packaging or clean storage bags to avoid deformation. It is advised to keep some anti-particulate masks and medical protective masks at home for future need.

6.There are three types of medical masks -- disposable medical masks, medical surgical masks and medical protective masks. In China, medical masks are registered as Class II medical devices, which are required to be non-toxic and harmless.
