National Institute for Nutrition and Health (NINH) is a national professional institution on research, technical guidance and consulting for food, nutrition and health. NINH has 9 administrative offices and 15 departments, as well as "NHC Key Laboratory of Trace Element Nutrition, "National Reference Laboratory Iodine Deficiency Disorders ", and "Food Fortification Office". NINH has carried out a lot of research and work around nutrition-related policies and standards, nutrition and health surveillance, nutrition and disease prevention, nutrition intervention and improvement, nutrition scientific research, and nutritional security under national emergency. The research and work systematically describe the temporal and spatial distribution and change trend of dietary patterns and nutritional health status in the whole life cycle of the whole population; reveal the main nutritional health problems in different periods and diagnose their influencing factors; explore the changes and influencing factors of dietary patterns and its health effects; accelerate the basic research, technological innovation, popularization and application of major nutrition science and technology; and overall improve the nutritional and health status of residents. 
 
What we do:
 
1. Implement nutrition, food and health work to provide professional support and advice for the formulation of nutrition-related policies, regulations, plans, actions and projects;
 
2. Organize the formulation of relevant guidelines, standards, technology solutions, conduct nutrition and health education and promotion activities;
 
3. Undertake the national nutrition and health status, food composition surveillance, and conduct nutrition intervention and related disease prevention and control; 
 
4. Screen and assess population-based nutrition and food safety issues in the population;
 
5. Conduct scientific study and technological innovation and application on nutrition, food and health;
 
6. Conduct graduate education and technological training on nutrition and health;
 
7. Provide professional guidance to local governments and the CDC system;
 
8. Carry out international cooperation and academic exchanges on nutrition and health;
 
9. Accomplish other tasks entrusted by the China CDC.
