As a national-level institution specialized in environment and health, the National Institute of Environmental Health (NIEH, China CDC) serves as a center for operational and technical guidance,focusing on disease control, emergency response, scientific research and education. The NIEH is dedicated to the prevention and control of environmental pollution-related diseases, population health promotion, carrying out investigation, surveillance and scientific research on population exposure, health effects and health impacts of environmental risk factors, as well as disinfection and infection prevention.
 
What we do:
 
1.Carry out the investigation, surveillance and scientific research of population exposure, health effects and health impacts of environmental risk factors, as well as disinfection and infection prevention;
 
2.Implement the research and development, evaluation and promotion of technology and methods associated with Environmental Health, disinfection and infection control;
 
3.Participate in health emergency responses and assessment of unexpected environmental pollution, natural disasters and infectious disease outbreaks;
 
4.Launch prediction and early warning of environmental health impacts, risk assessment and information exchanges;
 
5.Undertake the health, disinfection and infection control, as well as related laboratory quality control and standard management;
 
6.Assume the tasks of continuing medical education, postgraduate training and technical guidance for local disease control agencies and 
 
7.Conducts international cooperation and exchanges in the field of environmental health;
 
8.Accomplish other tasks entrusted by the China CDC.
