Han Mengjie

Professor Mengjie Han, born in 1964. He holds a Master's degree in Public Health from Beijing Medical University(Now as Peking University Health Science Center)and a Master's degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of Southern California, USA. As a researcher and graduate supervisor, he currently serves as the chief expert for AIDS prevention and control.
 
Professor Han specializes in the technical, policy, and strategic aspects of AIDS prevention and control, as well as in research related to supervision and evaluation, public education for children and adolescents, and the involvement of multiple sectors and social organizations. He played a significant role in the collaborative drafting of the "China AIDS Joint Assessment Report" with United Nations specialized groups, and in formulating the Chinese 12th and 13th Five-Year Action Plans for the containment and prevention of AIDS. He led the final evaluations of China's 11th and 12th Five-Year Action Plans for AIDS containment and prevention, contributed to the "China AIDS Progress Report" submitted to the United Nations, and drafted the China-Africa AIDS Cooperation Research Report. In addition to these roles, Professor Han currently holds several other prestigious positions. He is the Vice-President of the Chinese Association for STD and AIDS Prevention and Control, the Deputy Director of the Professional Committee for Dermatology and STD Prevention and Control under the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, the Deputy Leader of the Liangshan Prefecture AIDS Prevention and Control Task Force Expert Group under the National Health Commission, the Deputy Leader of the National Health Commission's AIDS Medical Expert Group, and a member of the National Health Commission's Expert Committee on Disease Prevention and Control. He has a long history of significant roles, including serving as an assistant director in the Office of the State Council AIDS Working Committee. From 2009 to 2010, he worked at the World Health Organization's Department of HIV/AIDS, and from 2010 to 2015, he served as the Executive Director of the Central Implementation Organization for the Global Fund Project in China. He was also a member of the Global Fund's Finance and Audit Committee for two consecutive terms from 2015 to 2018.
 
Professor Han's major research projects include the "11th Five-Year Major Special Project for AIDS Prevention and Control," the "13th Five-Year Major Special Project for AIDS Prevention and Control," the“National key research and development program in 2022,”the“National Natural Science Foundation of China,” the United Nations AIDS Program Social Organization Participation Evaluation Project, and the World Health Organization's Antiretroviral Therapy Research Project, among others. He has mentored more than ten master's degree students. In the past decade, he has authored and co-authored over fifty academic papers and edited several monographs. His contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award for Health Management in 2010 and 2012, the Advanced Individual in AIDS Prevention and Control in Sichuan Province in 2012, the Second Prize of the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Awards in 2018 and the Third Prizes of the Chinese Preventive Medical Science and Technology Awards in 2021 and 2023.
