Dr. Quanfu Sun,the Chief Expert in Radiological Health at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and a doctoral supervisor.
 
He primarily engages in research on the health effects of ionizing radiation and radiological health management.
 
Dr. Sun is dedicated to the study and research of low-dose ionizing radiation effects in China, including epidemiological investigations into the health effects of radon exposure. His work extends to surveys on medical exposure levels, development of radiological health informatics, and radiological health monitoring which comprises health and hygiene monitoring of residents around nuclear power plants and preventive measures against radon exposure in non-uranium mines. Furthermore, he is committed to the practical application of scientific attribution in radiological oncology and actively involved in promoting the formulation and revision of regulations and policies. As a principal researcher, he received the second prize in the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award in 2006 for "Epidemiological Research in High Background Radiation Areas," the second prize in the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association Science and Technology Award in 2007 for "Residential Environment Monitoring and Its Impact on Human Health," and the second prize in the Chinese Society for Radiation Protection Science and Technology Award in 2021 for "Establishment and Application of a Personal Dose Monitoring and Registration System for Radiation Workers."
 
He currently holds several prominent positions including Chair of the Radiological Health Standards Professional Committee of the National Health and Standards Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Radiological Medicine and Protection, Vice-Chair of the Radiological Medicine and Protection Committee of the Chinese Medical Association, Vice-President of the Chinese Society for Radiation Protection, Deputy Chair of the Radiological Health Professional Committee of the Chinese Health Supervision Association, and a member of Committee 1 of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).
