2025 Provincial Influenza Reference Center Proficiency Testing and Technical Training Held in Chongqing
From July 9 to 11, 2025, the 2025 Provincial Influenza Reference Center Proficiency Testing and Technical Training Program was held in Chongqing, organized by the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention (IVDC), Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), and hosted by the Chongqing Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 50 technical staff from provincial (autonomous region and municipality) CDCs attended the training.
The opening session was chaired by Dr. Wang Dayan, Director of the Chinese National Influenza Center(CNIC). Participants from each province (autonomous region and municipality) gave brief self-introductions to their respective work. The training was delivered by instructors organized by CNIC, the curriculum covered standardized reporting protocols for the influenza surveillance system and the data analysis for influenza surveillance, new technologies for influenza and avian influenza forecasting and early warning, and the selection and preparation of influenza and avian influenza vaccine strains. The program concluded with in-depth discussions on practical challenges faced in influenza surveillance and research.
The successful training program has advanced the high-quality development of China’s national influenza surveillance network.
