China CDC Holds 2025 National Immunization Program Work Conference for CDC Institutions
On March 4–5, 2025, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) convened the 2025 National Immunization Program Work Conference for CDC institutions in Beijing. Li Xiaocui, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Immunization of the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, and Li Qun, Deputy Director of the China CDC, attended the meeting.
Deputy Director-General Li Xiaocui fully affirmed the achievements of the national immunization program in 2024. She emphasized the need to maintain a clear understanding of the new situation, tasks, and requirements facing the immunization program. She called for higher political awareness, a broader strategic vision, and stronger implementation efforts to advance the high-quality development of immunization work. Specifically, she urged continued efforts to strengthen six key areas: mechanisms, support systems, service capacity, information systems, program effectiveness, and workforce development. Li stressed that local CDCs should focus on key priorities including: routine immunization; the prevention and control of vaccine-preventable diseases; informatization of vaccination services; monitoring and response to adverse events following immunization (AEFI); standardized management and comprehensive regulation of non-program vaccines; and capacity building for immunization personnel.
Deputy Director Li Qun put forward detailed requirements for the next phase of work. He called for maintaining high coverage rates of vaccines under the National Immunization Program and actively promoting the digitalization of immunization services. He underscored the importance of strengthening surveillance, early warning, and emergency response related to immunization program diseases, as well as the monitoring and analysis of suspected AEFI cases. He also stressed the timely development and updating of relevant vaccination schedules and technical guidelines. Li further emphasized the need to reinforce interdisciplinary collaboration and ensure that the National Technical Working Group on Immunization fully plays its technical support role. In addition, he called for well-organized publicity efforts for National Immunization Day and for thorough preparations for the upcoming immunization skills competition.
More than 100 representatives attended the conference, including participants from the CDCs of all 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and cities specifically designated in the state plan, as well as relevant departments and affiliated institutions of the China CDC. The meeting featured in-depth exchanges and extensive discussions.
