On May 26, 2025, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC, also known as the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) held the 2025 Work Coordination Meeting for the Southern Xinjiang Workstation in Kashgar, Xinjiang. Attendees included representatives from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region CDC, the CDC of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, the Southern Xinjiang Workstation and its liaison points, as well as staff from relevant departments of China CDC (the Academy). Former heads of the Southern Xinjiang Workstation and public health experts from provinces and municipalities engaged in counterpart support to Xinjiang were also invited to attend and provide guidance.

At the meeting, Liu Eryong, the ninth head of the Southern Xinjiang Workstation, presented an overview of the workstation’s overall work. Representatives from nine liaison points reported on their progress and future plans. The General Office of China CDC briefed participants on the 2025 counterpart support plan for the workstation and its liaison points. Attendees held in-depth discussions on topics such as operational management models, support needs and mechanisms, and the use of program funding.

The meeting underscored that China CDC (the Academy) attaches great importance to the development and operation of the Southern Xinjiang Workstation. It emphasized that work coordination meetings are a vital mechanism for strengthening communication and driving progress. The Southern Xinjiang Workstation is expected to fully play its role as a liaison hub, establish a regular meeting mechanism with its liaison points, continuously improve its operational management model, and strengthen overall coordination of the 2025 support plan. Greater focus is to be placed on producing measurable outcomes and tangible results, thereby contributing more effectively to disease prevention and control efforts in Southern Xinjiang.
