China CDC Experts Conduct Post-earthquake Public Health Situation and Needs Assessment at Camp Sites in Mandalay
On the afternoon of April 23, in coordination with the Mandalay Department of Public Health, experts from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), as members of the China Public Health Team to Myanmar, carried out field investigations from April 24 to 25 to centralized camp sites in Chanayethazan and Aungmyethazan townships. The assessment focused on key aspects of post-disaster public health, including disease surveillance, drinking water safety, food hygiene, vector control, excreta disposal, waste management, and the provision of health services. Through on-site observations and face-to-face discussions with local health service providers and resettled residents, the experts conducted a preliminary evaluation of public health risks in the affected areas of Mandalay. Moving forward, the team will continue to visit other important critical locations to further identify public health needs, assess potential risks, and develop targeted recommendations to support effective post-disaster health interventions.
