China CDC (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) Establishes Youth Scientists Alliance in Disease Control

On February 6, 2026, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) held the founding meeting of the Youth Scientists Alliance in Disease Control. Center (Academy) leaders Wang Jianwei, Zhang Guoxin, Li Qun, and Shi Xiaoming attended the meeting, along with heads of headquarters departments and affiliated units, members of the Alliance Executive Committee, and youth representatives. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Director (Vice President) Shi Xiaoming.

At the meeting, Secretary Zhang Guoxin announced the first roster of the Alliance Executive Committee, naming Qin Tian as Chair and Tang Song and Li Dan as Vice Chairs. Director (President) Wang Jianwei emphasized that establishing the Youth Scientists Alliance represents an important step in advancing talent development initiatives. The Alliance is intended to serve as a cross-disciplinary platform that stimulates the vitality of young professionals in disease control and fosters collaborative innovation. Wang outlined five key expectations: first, define clear objectives to ensure the Alliance’s sustainable development; second, consolidate efforts to serve effectively as a connecting link; third, deepen research to establish a recognized academic brand in disease control; fourth, strengthen training to cultivate a reserve of young talent; and fifth, embrace responsibilities to demonstrate youth leadership.

Subsequently, the Executive Committee held its first meeting, during which members studied the Charter of the Youth Scientists Alliance in Disease Control (Trial) and conducted in-depth discussions on the Alliance’s annual goals and tasks.

All committee members affirmed their commitment to enhancing political awareness, taking proactive responsibility, and fully leveraging the Alliance’s role in uniting and guiding young scientific talent to serve national public health strategies.
