‌2025 Conference on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Research Exchange and Training Successfully Held

On June 25, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) held the Conference on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Research Exchange and Training in Beijing, themed ‌"Pooling Wisdom for Innovation, Gathering Strength for Legacy, Consolidating Energy for the Future."‌ Dr. Xia Gang, Vice Administrator of the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration (NDCPA); Dr. Wang Jianwei, Director of China CDC (President of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine); and Dr. Erasmus Morah, Director and Representative of UNAIDS Office in China, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Yan Jun, Deputy Director of China CDC. Over 100 participants attended the Conference, including representatives from civil society, international organizations, academic institutions, and HIV/AIDS prevention professionals from various provinces.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Xia Gang summarized China's experience and achievements in HIV/AIDS prevention and control, emphasizing the need to ‌persist in precise implementation, ‌strengthen focused efforts on key challenges‌, ‌adhere to scientific prevention‌, ‌innovate prevention methods‌, ‌promote collaboration and sharing‌, and ‌mobilize societal synergy‌. Dr. Wang Jianwei focused on prevention technology, reviewing the progression from technology introduction to independent innovation and ultimately to promoting China's experience globally. He required that future prevention efforts must ‌persist in empowering through science and technology‌, ‌persist in system integration‌, ‌persist in consolidating foundations‌, and ‌persist in a shared future community‌. Dr. Erasmus Morah highly commended China's achievements in HIV/AIDS prevention and praised China CDC's technical supporting role in HIV response.

During the expert interview session, the panelists reviewed and summarized the achievements in HIV response‌, sharing of the best practices, and ‌outlook of future innovation blueprints‌. It showed ‌joint efforts to create a new paradigm of the "dual helix” integrating scientific research and prevention practice. During the academic training session, ‌the focus remained on multidisciplinary collaboration and integration‌, exploring ‌the building of a data-driven precision prevention and control system‌, thereby ‌injecting strong scientific and technological impetus‌ into the high-quality development of HIV/AIDS prevention and control efforts.
