China CDC National Center for Chronic Disease Control Holds Expert Seminar on “Pain Free China” Project
On 11 September 2025, the National Center for Chronic and Non-communicable Disease Control and Prevention of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) held an expert seminar on the “Pain Free China” project in Beijing. The meeting was chaired by Liu Fang, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Center, and brought together experts from public health, health education, clinical practice and communication.
The seminar focused on a work plan for community based chronic pain prevention and control and related health education, with pharmacies as key platforms. Experts drew on their respective fields to offer suggestions on role definition, capacity building, coordination mechanisms and organizational arrangements, and shared relevant experience.
Building on the discussions at this meeting, the project will further refine the work plan and develop a set of scientific, standardised and practical guidelines for community chronic pain prevention and control. It will bring pharmacies and other social forces into the primary level chronic disease prevention and control workforce and promote the “Pain Free China” vision through government enterprise cooperation, standardised service procedures and innovative health education approaches. The project aims to provide a model for chronic pain prevention and control that can be replicated and promoted more widely.
