China CDC (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) Holds Orientation Meeting for First Cohort of Interdisciplinary Talent Training in Medicine, Prevention, and Health Management
On August 18, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) / Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine held the orientation meeting for the inaugural cohort of its interdisciplinary strategic talent training program in medicine, disease prevention, and health management. Wang Jianwei, Director (President) and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Center (Academy), attended the meeting and delivered a keynote address. Zhang Guoxin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director (Vice President), presided over the session. Representatives of the trainees and heads of relevant departments and affiliated units also participated in the meeting and shared their views.
Director Wang highlighted that the current national initiative to cultivate interdisciplinary professionals in medicine, prevention, and management is a key step in implementing the decisions of the CPC Central Committee. Under the leadership of the National Health Commission, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, China CDC (Academy) is honored to be one of the first five national training bases selected for this important program. The leadership of the Center (Academy) attaches great importance to the development of such talent, and aims to make full use of its role as a training base to support the cultivation of three core types of professionals: frontline commanders, cross-disciplinary integrators, and visionary leaders.
Director Wang emphasized that all receiving units must tailor training plans based on the specific profiles and needs of each trainee, leverage the Center’s resources, and ensure targeted instruction. The goal is to enable trainees to truly gain knowledge, build capacity, and foster mutual growth between trainers and learners. He also called for effective implementation of the assignments entrusted by the three national authorities, with a focus on practical outcomes. Receiving units should strengthen mutual learning and take this opportunity to promote collaboration and collective improvement. Furthermore, he urged all relevant departments and logistical support teams to fully assume their responsibilities, organize the work meticulously, and provide strong safeguards and high-quality services to ensure the success of the training program.
In his concluding remarks, Secretary Zhang reiterated that both the headquarters and all receiving units must attach high importance to the implementation requirements laid out by the three national authorities. He underscored the political significance of this training program and stressed that all related work must be carried out with precision and diligence to ensure its smooth completion.
A representative of the trainees expressed their appreciation for the opportunity, noting their commitment to seize this chance to gain frontline experience, deepen their understanding of disease prevention, and complete the training successfully, living up to the expectations of the leadership of the Commission and the Administration. A representative from China CDC (Academy) affirmed that the institution would, with a strong sense of mission and responsibility, faithfully implement the instructions of the three national authorities and the Party Committee of the Center (Academy), and provide comprehensive support for the training.
