The China Conference on Diabetes Prevention and Control and 2025 United Nations World Diabetes Day Online Event were Successfully Held
14 November 2025 was the 19th United Nations World Diabetes Day. To put into practice the requirements of the Healthy China Initiative — Implementation Plan for Diabetes Prevention and Control Action (2024–2030) and to share advanced experience in diabetes prevention and control and weight management across the country, the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) held the China Conference on Diabetes Prevention and Control and the 2025 United Nations World Diabetes Day Online Event on that day. More than 15000 staff from disease control institutions, general hospitals and primary health care institutions in all 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government registered for the event, and the maximum number of concurrent online participants reached 4500.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Wu Jing, Director of the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention, China CDC. Zhang Guoxin, Secretary of the CPC Committee of China CDC, attended the meeting and delivered a highly instructive remark. He put forward requirements for diabetes prevention and control in China in four areas: building a closed-loop system that covers the full continuum from prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment to long-term management; promoting a shift in the prevention and control approach from treating existing disease to preventing disease; adopting digital technologies to support precision diabetes prevention and control; and upgrading the prevailing concept of health from disease management to health empowerment.
The conference focused on diabetes prevention and control and weight management as its core themes. A total of 11 well-known domestic experts and scholars were invited to share the latest research findings and practical experience. The programme was widely recognized and well received by participants and by colleagues from provincial and municipal disease control institutions.
