Wang Jianwei

Wang Jianwei is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and holds a PhD. He serves as Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and President of Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, and Professor. He is Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Immunology and Inflammation and a member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
 
His research focuses on the pathogenesis control and prevention of respiratory viral infections. He has received support from several major talent programmes, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China Innovative Research Group Programme, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the Beijing Scholar Programme. He is Chair of the Ministry of Education expert group on virology knowledge system development. He serves as Vice President of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and Chair of its Bioinformatics Branch, and as Standing Council Member of the Chinese Medical Association and Chair of its Medical Virology Branch. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal China CDC Weekly. As corresponding author, including co-corresponding author, he has published numerous SCI papers in journals such as Cell and The Lancet. His work has been cited in multiple international guidelines, patents and policy documents. Diagnostic products developed by his team have obtained seven medical device registrations in China. He has been repeatedly listed among Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researchers and Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers. As first awardee, he has received one Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, two first prizes at provincial or ministerial level, as well as the National Innovation Award for Excellence, the Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Award and several other honours.
